Exceptionaly in the history of porcelain snuff-boxes, the present example is almost identical to another in the Wallach Collection and formerly in the Max von Goldschmidt-Rothschild collection. Both boxes depict Carl Theodore and his consort Elisabeth Auguste and the remaining surface decoration shows the same subjects with minor variations.
