A FINE LOUIS XVI ENAMELLED GOLD SNUFF-BOX

Oval box, the cover, base and sides enamelled in translucent blue on an engine-turned ground, the lid and base centred by caramel coloured oval enamel reserves painted with trees on a horizontally reeded guilloché ground, the sides similarly decorated with oval cartouches of opaque and translucent multi-coloured enamels; the borders painted with opaque blue enamel ovolos alternating with translucent red enamel pellets -- 70 mm wide.
