A mother with her child and the grand-parents in a rustic interior, the mother with dotted orange dress, wearing a portrait miniature of a gentleman suspended from a chain around her neck, holding her child on her thighs, the grandmother in dark dress and cap, the grandfather in red waistcoat wearing a white Zipfelmütze and holding a snuff-box; a sealed letter pinned to the wooden wall -- 68 mm diam., gilt-metal mount.
