A GERMAN SILVER-GILT-LINED ENAMEL SNUFF-BOX
Berlin, Fromery, circa 1750

Cartouche-shaped box with flaring sides, the cover decorated with a scene of dancing peasants accompanied by two gentleman playing the lute and the tambourine, and dragons flying in the air, in gilt relief; the sides similarly painted with gilt garlands and polychrome foliage, and buildings on the base; the rear side with a couple of dogs; the scrolling thumbpiece slightly raised -- 72 mm wide, minor hairline cracking.
