A LOUIS XV SILVER-MOUNTED ENAMEL SNUFF-BOX
the box probably Berlin, Fromery workshop, the mounts Paris, 1756-1762, with the discharge of Éloi Brichard

Oval box, the cover, sides and base enamelled with a brown and blue diaper-work within borders of raised gilt Laub-und-Bandelwerk, the lid centered by a cartouche containing a Kauffarthey scene, the front and rear sides with similar cartouches, the left and right hand sides with landscapes in purple camaïeu, in the center of the base a flower sprig in similar monochrome, the inside of the cover painted with a fisher in a landscape also in purple camaïeu; the reeded silver mounts with slightly raised thumbpiece -- 76 mm wide.
