Abridged German translation of the Hortus Sanitatis. The first German edition, also abridged, was published by Johann Prüss in 1509. The present edition, which was apparently shared by the printers Balthassar Beck and Johann Grüninger, is described on the title-page as "newly corrected [and] more entertaining to read than before", and consists principally of the second part of the traditional Hortus, with a short (ten leaves) section on plants bound in at the end, containing 21 woodcuts. The small text woodcuts, which are considerably fewer in number, are copies of some of the Prüss Hortus cuts; the skeleton cut was printed from the same block as in the Prüss editions. RARE.
