2 albums including a total of 162 albumen prints. 1888-1889. Varying in size from approximately 3 x 4 in. (7.6 x 10.2 cm.) to approximately 9 x 11¾ in. (22.8 x 29.8 cm.) or the reverse. Ink manuscript titles on mounts, black leather, gilt.

Lot Essay

Possibly the albums of the St. Aubyn King family, who feature prominently or of a Mr. Wedderburn. Including a number of subjects such as the pheasantry, stags and rhinoceros in Alipore Zoological Gardens; views relating to the Looshai Expedition including the shipping of elephants (one illus.) and group portraits of members of the 2nd Bengal Light Infantry; a few images showing torpedo experiments in 1889; Mr. Percival Spencer's hot air balloon in 1889; many individual and group portraits including Lord and Lady Bailey arriving at Belvedere House; wrestlers from the 30th Bengal Infantry; a series of photographs of inmates of the Presidency Jail, Calcutta including Burmese dacoits (bandits), 'Deformed Jail Birds' and 'Calcutta Professional Thieves'; Belvedere House interior and grounds; and a number of views and portraits taken in Scotland.
