Lot Essay

In his preface, Griffin writes "The present volume has been issued with the sole desire of placing, by the autotype process, on permanent record in public and private libraries, accurate representations of the more important architectural monuments of Central India, before time, neglect, or barbarous and greedy hands shall have destroyed the buildings which have so special an artistic value in relation to the ancient arts of building and sculpture in the east..."

An obituary for Lala Deen Dayal appeared in the Times of India in 1905.
