Presentation album of 81 albumen prints. 1891. 51 approximately 10½ x 8 in. (26.8 x 20.2 cm.), the remainder approximately 5¼ x 8¼ in. (13.2 x 20.9 cm.) or the reverse. The majority signed and/or numbered in the negatives, titled and numbered in ink on mounts, the last mount signed and dated Lala Deen Dayal Indore 22-11-91, signed and inscribed in ink on front blank Presented to His Excellency Marquees (sic) of Lansdowne...from H.H. Maharaja Sir Anand Rao Powar...State Dhar 24th November 1891 Dated Camp Indore and annotated A.R.P.S.D., Lansdowne library label numbered 17 inside front cover, brown leather, gilt, title and photographer's credit in gilt on front cover, g.e., white-metal clasp.

A fine presentation album beginning with one seated portrait of the Maharaja in formal dress; studies in and around Dhar including one street scene, the Fort and a hill-top temple; the mosque, palaces, mausoleum and a lake at Mandu; 'Mhou Cantonments'; the Patulpani waterfall; the Holkar State Railway; river scenes, the residency and gardens, the Daly College, the Lal Bagh palace, 'Masahib's Mausoleum', the Cenotaph of 'Apa Sahib Baha' and a street view at Indore; the Buddhist Tope at Sanchi; the Bhopal State Railway; a series of views and details at Gwalior Fort; 'the old gun at Bhilsa'; an unusual study of live monkeys at 'Onkarjee' (illus); other forts, temples and palaces; and the waterfall near Rewa.
