Of square form with a central panel of a scholar bowing to a child attendant presenting a fan, the figures robes worked in gold lacquer with ivory hands, faces and feet, a mother-of-pearl bird flying above inset into a woven ivory background, the figures standing on a gold lacquer ground with blossoming flowers, all set into a foliate carved and pierced wood frame applied with mother-of-pearl songbirds and inlaid with silver wire fretwork borders, raised on two bracket feet
