From the Series of the Elements, woven in wools and silks, of a river goddess seated on a bank with a laurel crown and sceptre resting against an urn overflowing with water, while beyond, Venus and her attendants, borne on a dolphin-drawn shell, emerges from the water, the seascape beyond with numerous ships framed by a tall tree, the borders woven with foliate trails of tulips, carnations, peonies and other flowers within acanthus arabesques, on a brown ground and with parrots to each side, in a brown and rust outer slip, minor restorations and areas of re-weaving
