Lot Essay

Gunterstein, originally a 15th Century castle, was demolished by inhabitants of Utrecht in 1511, reconstructed, and later was the property of Johan van Oldebarnevelt. In 1672 it was destroyed by the French but was restored in 1681. It is now the property of a private foundation and still privately inhabited
