King Vittorio-Amadeo III of Sardinia and his Queen Maria-Antonieta, he with short powdered wig, wearing a blue uniform with silver frogging and red collar, decorated with the jewel of the Order of the Most Sacred Annunciation, she with upswept powdered hair, wearing a fur-set blue dress with lace border, and a lace bonnet with white muslin veil; both oval -- 31 mm high each, gilt-metal mounts (2)

Lot Essay

Vittorio-Amadeo III (1726-1796), King of Sardinia 1773-1796, married Maria-Antonieta (1729-1785), daughter of King Philip V of Spain, in 1750. They were the parents-in-law of the future Kings Louis XVIII and Charles X of France.
