Lot Essay

Marie (1703-1768), daugther of Stanislas Leszczynski, ex-King of Poland and Duke of Lorraine, and his wife Catherine Opalinska, was married to King Louis XV of France in 1725. She gave birth to two boys and eight girls.
The present miniature is after Jean-Marc Nattier's oil painting of 1748 in Versailles Castle.
