ANGELUS CARLETUS DE CLAVASIO (1411-95). Summa angelica de casibus conscientiae. Additions by Hieronymus Tornieli (fl. 15th century). Venice: Nicolaus de Frankfordia, 30 October 1487.
Median 4° (217x155mm). Collation: π6 a-z A-K12 L12 (π1r blank, π1v Tornieli's letter to the reader, π2r author's reply to Tornieli, π2v author's prologue, π3r tables, a1r text, L1r Rubrice iuris civilis et canonici, L12 blank). 413 (of 414, without final blank) leaves, the third and fourth bifolia of quire f reversed in binding with the fifth and sixth. 49-50 lines and foliation, double column, table in 4 columns. Type: 6:63Gb (text), 7:130G (headings), printed guide-letters. 2- to 7-line initial spaces left blank. (Some light dampstaining, upper corner of K12 torn with slight loss of text, small marginal tears in E, front inner hinge reinforced.) Contemporary calf over wooden boards blindstamped, 2 brass fore-edge catches (without clasps and one back plate), title written on lower edge, (spine renewed); a Darmstadt binding by the "Vogel Strauss" binder, stamps include Schwenke-Sammlung Hahn 29, Lamm 69 and Rosette 300. Provenance: Tilman Heiver, late 16th-century inscription.
Third edition. In reprinting the text from the first, Chivasso, edition by Suigus of the previous year, Nicolaus de Frankfordia substituted his own name for that of Suigus in the verses at the end, thus claiming authorship of those verses and a greater role in bringing the Summa angelica into print.
