BIBLE, English. The Bible in Miniature or a Consice History of the Old and New Testament. London: printed for W. Harris, 1775. 42 x 30mm. 2 woodcut titles and 14 plates. (A few marginal tears.) Contemporary calf (rebacked preserving original spine), later red morocco slip-case.
WATTS, Isaac (1674-1748). Divine Songs, attempted in easy language, for the use of children. London: printed (by virtue of a late decision in the House of Peers) for W. Cavell, 1776. 12° (134 x 78mm). First and last advertisement leaf. (Dampstained, some tears, with loss of text to first two leaves, fragile, with regular pencil-markings.) Leaves stab sewn on laces into plain boards (no back). Provenance: Cattrin Stroud. Cholderton [with verse]; Catherine Stroud's Book 1788. A & M no.120; not in Pafford. One of the earliest published versions by a firm outside that of the former copyright holders. Perpetual copyright had been voted down (by one vote) in the House of Lords in 1774/5.
