Drawings of comparable subject and technique by Bernardino Cesari, brother of the more celebrated Giuseppe, are in the Kupferstichkabinett, Berlin, H. Röttgen, Il Cavaliere D'Arpino, exhib. cat., Palazzo Venezia, Rome, 1973, nos. 158-9, illustrated.
Röttgen connects the Berlin studies with a prone nude figure on the right of a fresco depicting the Battle of the Romans against the Veientes and Fidenates in the Salone dei Conservatori in the Palazzo dei Conservatori, Rome, H. Röttgen, op. cit., fig. 10.
