The MG SA, introduced in 1935, was the successor to the KN Magnette. It was in fact cheaper as well as being considerably more comfortable than the earlier Magnette . The coachwork was elegant indeed; first announced was the saloon which had flowing lines and a low roof line (much lower and more sporting than the contemporary Bentley), yet it could carry four adults with ease and in great comfort. Fittings were extensive, with beautifully inlaid woodwork on the doors and dashboard, together with rear blinds and cushions for rear passenger comfort. The engine was a 2.2 litre six cylinder unit with pushrod operated overhead valves connected to a four speed manual gearbox and the brakes were hydraulically operated on the Lockheed system.

MG 6066 is finished in dark blue over pale blue, complemented with pale blue wire wheels. It was purchased by John Shute in 1983, when a major restoration was carried out. The paintwork, although not new, is generally in good condition, with a little evidence of paint reaction in places and some slight flaking around the rear windows, the overall condition of the car being commensurate with a good, older restoration. The interior upholstery is dark blue leather, in very good condition, as is the woodwork on the door cappings and dashboard, inlaid as original. The standard, factory fitted sunroof operates correctly and the interior has its period accessories of sun-blinds and cushions.

The car is described as running and driving well and it is hoped that it will have a new MoT certificate by the time of the sale. It comes with a comprehensive file of history which includes the original log book from 1937 and numerous photographs both before and after the restoration.

A lovely touring saloon, being capable of cruising comfortably at 55mph.
