A COMPOSITE FULL ARMOUR FOR THE FIELD, composed of Italian close helmet with one-piece skull and high roped comb, gorget of two plates to front and rear (replaced), etched with bands of strapwork framing cartouches containing Classical figures and heads (etching partly refreshed), gorget of three plates to front and rear, full arm defences (partly restored), German breast-plate with prominent central keel, moveable gussets, bold roped turns at the neck and arms, and folding lance-rest, later skirt of three plates and tassets of four, and later complete legs with 'bear-paw' sabatons, all the above etched to match the helmet, and Brunswick back-plate etched with bands of scrolling foliage involving a female figure in contemporary costume, grotesques and cherub heads within pearled borders, and plain German mitten gauntlets with turned and roped borders, on a wooden stand, comprehensively 16th Century
