AN IZNIK POTTERY JUG
TURKEY, THIRD QUARTER 16TH CENTURY

With spherical body and slightly waisted cylindrical neck, loop handle and short foot, the body and neck each painted with a band of scrolling tendrils issuing flowerheads and leafy sprays reserved against a light cobalt-blue ground, minor green and black border above, rim chips, hair crack, handle restored
