Each enamelled with a central coat-of-arms, crest, supporters and motto Amitie within feathery mantling, the border with four crested cartouches, rims cracked

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Pitt, Baron Londonderry with Ridgeway in pretence. The service was made for Thomas Pitt, son of Governor Pitt, who married in 1717 Lady Frances Ridgeway, daughter and co-heir of Robert, Earl of Londonderry. Cf. D. S. Howard, op.cit., p.793
