Lot Essay

The arms are those of Pitt, Baron Londonderry with Ridgeway in pretence. The service was made for Thomas Pitt, son of Governor Pitt, who married in 1717 Lady Frances Ridgeway, daughter and co-heir of Robert, Earl of Londonderry. Cf. D. S. Howard, op.cit., p.793
