A RARE 32-BORE BRASS-BARRELLED WHEEL-LOCK GUN
CIRCA, 1600, PERHAPS FRENCH
With associated three-stage brass barrel turned at the muzzle and with three raised stepped loops, each slotted for sighting, and slotted shaped iron back-sight, plain iron tang, plain bevelled lock (a working replacement) with sliding pan-cover and shell-shaped wheel-retaining bracket, fruitwood full stock (fore-end repaired) with slender butt of French form, later trigger and scrolled iron trigger-guard, iron butt-plate and ramrod-pipe, and iron-tipped ramrod, the lock German, circa 1640
