A 38-BORE AUSTRIAN FLINTLOCK TARGET RIFLE

Rebuilt from wheel-lock, with signed swamped octagonal sighted barrel cut with seven grooves and with removable touch-hole, border engraved flat lock with enclosed rearward-acting mechanism, the plate signed within an elaborate foliate cartouche issuing from a pedestal and with horizontally fluted fence below the pan, walnut full stock (old repairs), carved with scrolls and strapwork in relief, cheek-piece and sliding patch-box cover both inlaid with white and dark horn, fluted fore-end, plain brass mounts of shaped outline including pierced side-plate, indented brass trigger-guard (bent), and butt-plate with turned iron button, set trigger, faceted brass ramrod-pipes, and wooden ramrod with white and dark horn tip matching the fore-end cap (peep-sight missing) 34¾in. barrel
