With straight-grooved two-stage barrel retaining some blued finish and with foliate brass fore-sight, the octagonal breech signed on a brass ribbon and inlaid with silver interlaced strapwork and a silver-inlaid figure of a mounted sportsman discharging his pistol at a stag, with hounds in pursuit, and with an inlaid engraved brass band at the rear, engraved tang, flat lock chiselled in relief on a punced ground with cherubs amidst scrollwork and, on the tail, with a heraldic shield between lion supporters, surmounted by a princely crown and charged with the monogram C.F. (?), spring-loaded swing-out safety steel, moulded figured walnut full stock (bruised) carved with scrollwork and foliage in relief, the butt with cheek-piece and patch-box cover, brass mounts cast and chased in relief with strapwork, foliage, masks and classical goddesses, the side-plate pierced and chased with an eagle attacking a fallen sportsman, escutcheon with Diana above and a grotesque mask beneath, engraved faceted brass ramrod-pipes, horn fore-end cap, and horn-tipped ramrod (sling mounts removed)
