With signed blued two-stage barrel with brass fore-sight, the top flat of the breech engraved with a skull and crossbones, two sprays of foliage, and a four-line moralistic inscription, signed faceted lock (signature worn) with engraved cock and tail, moulded figured walnut half-stock sparsely carved in relief with strapwork and foliage, cheek-piece, lightly engraved faceted iron butt-plate and trigger-guard, each with foliate finial, flat pierced side-plate engraved with foliage and a grotesque mask, gilt-brass escutcheon cast and chased with the arms of Saxony, horn fore-end cap, iron sling mounts, faceted ramrod-pipes, and horn-tipped ramrod

The maker is probably Johann Erdmann Schintzel, recorded 1690-1725
