SCH' at the breech, grooved tang forming the back-sight, flat lock fitted with safety-bolster and stamped '864' (for 1864) and with small double-headed eagle mark on the tail, figured walnut half-stock stamped 'D' and 'I. SCH', regulation iron mounts including fore-end cap forming a barrel-band, iron back-strap, and pommel with lanyard ring
