A FINE CASED PAIR OF 26-BORE FLINTLOCK PISTOLS

With swamped browned twist octagonal sighted barrels, case-hardened patent breeches each with gold-lined crowned maker's stamp, gold line, and gold-lined touch-hole, finely engraved case-hardened tangs, border engraved case-hardened detented bevelled locks each with engraved stepped tail, safety-catch, roller bearing on a ramp, and gold-lined semi-rainproof pan, figured walnut full stocks, chequered butts with a plain strip down each side, engraved blued iron mounts including trigger-guards in the French taste and with pineapple finial, gold escutcheons, blued set triggers, case-hardened trigger-plates, original horn-tipped ramrods, and nearly all their original finish: in lined and fitted mahogany case with accessories including two-way flask covered in red leather, the lid with trade label for circa 1789-1804, the outside inlaid with satinwood stringing and with flush-fitting carrying handle, the whole set in exceptional condition throughout, London proof marks
