On one occasion seeing a cavalry patrol held up, he came down to 600 feet dropping bombs on the enemy and enabled his observer to enfilade the hostile trench with machine gun fire. Finally his engine was put out of action by rifle fire from the ground."
Captain Patrick Colin Campbell, M.C., was gazetted Second Lieutenant, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, Special Reserve; gained his Royal Aero Club Pilot's Licence, No. 2017, 8th.
