Painted in polychrome enamels and gilt over a clear crackled glaze with peonies and chrysanthemums above a fence, a band of lappets at the shoulder with roundels containing gilt Shimazu crests on a ground of scrolling vines and stylized lotus leaves on a brocade pattern below a floret band, another band of lappets above the flat base, illegible red enamel mark
