Rectangular and raised at either end of the hinged lid, inlaid on the cover in mother-of-pearl with a pair of tigers separated by a stand of bamboo within a line border, inlaid on the front to the sides of the latch with birds and plum and birds and bamboo, inlaid on the opposite long side with three flower sprays, and inlaid on the short ends with butterflies and pinks, the ground of the box black lacquer, the interior lined in cloth and the fittings iron
