MID 19TH CENTURY, MADE FOR THE TURKISH MARKET
Shaped oval, the hinged cover and base with panels painted with flowers on a translucent red guilloché enamel ground, within scalloped borders of red and blue flowers on a pale blue ground between opaque white bands, the cover with a rose-diamond rim, the sides with a similar upper border and trophies and landscapes on pink, blue and red grounds all within white bands, the interior of the cover set with a panel painted with a dish of fruit and foliage, on green ground, small chips to enamel borders, partly re-enamelled, apparently unmarked
