Oblong with rounded sides, the cover chased and engraved as a purse flap with foliate scrolls on a stippled ground and set with diamonds, rubies and sapphires, against engine-turned ground and border, with engine-turned base and sides with acanthus borders, inscribed inside the cover, the engraving and gem-setting probably later, marked in the base and on the flange
3 3/8in. (8.5cm.) long

Lot Essay

The inscription reads 'To "Beau Brummell" from William and Madge Kendal With admiration and regard 1890.'
