Similar in theme to lot , this sketch relates to two pictures, Gather Ye Rosebuds while Ye May, circa 1911 (Hobson, 1980, fig.135) and Narcissus, exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1913 (Hobson, 1980, fig.128). Both pictures show a girl bending down to pick flowers in a meadow, although in each case she does so with her right hand, not her left as in the sketch. Gather Ye Rosebuds also introduces a second girl on the left of the design.
