INDENTAdmiral Sir Cyprian Arthur George Bridge, G.C.B. (1839-1924), entered the Royal Navy as a Cadet, 1853 and became Midshipman, 1855; served in H.M.S. Brisk, White Sea, 1855 and was present at the operations of the Bar of Archangel and at the attack on Solovetski; was A.D.C. to Captain Seymour during the capture of Pouslakta, Keretz and during the operations in the Gulf of Kandalux; was fired on when landing with a flag of truce on one of the Solovetski islands; took part in the second expedition to Petropaulovski; present in H.M.S. Pelorus, Bay of Bengal during the Indian Mutiny, landed with the Naval Brigade and proceeded to Meaday on the Burmese frontier; Sub. Leiutenant 1858, Lieutenant 1859; served in H.M.S. Fawn during the Fenian incursion into Canada, 1866; Commander 1869, Captain 1877; Member of War Office Committee on machine-guns etc 1879; Director of Naval Intelligence 1889-94; Rear Admiral 1892; C in C., Australian Station, 1895-97 Vice Admiral, 1898; (K.C.B., 1899); C in C, China Station, 1901-04; Admiral, 1903 (G.C.B., 1903) and retired the following year
