INDENTColonel John Mcauslan Denny, C.B., V.D., D.L., known as the "Ideal Officer of Citizen Soldiers", enlisted in the 6th Corps, Dunbartonshire Volunteer Rifle Corps, 1875; Major 1883; Lieutenant Colonel 1889 (V.D. 1897); Member of Parliament for Kilmarnock Burghs, 1895-1906; Deputy Lieutenant of the County of Dunbarton, 1914 (C.B., 1917); resigned his Commission, 1922. Colonel Denny died, aged 64, 9th December, 1922.

Major John Stewart, V.D. is shown as Sergeant , Clackmannan and Kinross Volunteers, 1874 and as Major in the same Corps, 1907. Major Stewart died, aged 66, 3rd May, 1922.

Captain William Wilson, V.D. served in the office of Provost of Kilsyth, 1895-1904.
