INDENTPrivate James Nutter was one of 14 men from the St. John's Ambulance Association to serve in the hospital ship, Maine during both the South African and China Wars, 1900 (both Private Nutter's campaign awards are held by the Museum of the Order of St. John). Baker, converted the cargo ship Maine, at his own expense, into a hospital vessel and later presented the Maine to the Royal Navy to act as their first permanent hospital ship.
