Blue straight-grained morocco, gilt one-line panel and lozenge on the covers with semi-circles at the intersections and one-line outer border, spine elborately tooled in gilt with double raised-bands, lettered in one compartment, the other four with a repeat overall design composed from sprigs and circles on a pointillé background, gilt turn-ins, pink watered-silk liners, 'Renouard' tooled in gilt on front pastedown, g.e., by HENRY WALTHER (label removed from from free-endpaper). Provenance: Antoine-Auguste RENOUARD (1765-1853, see binding description); Robert Stayner HOLFORD (1808-1892, pencilled note of purchase at sale: Sotheby's 1927-1928).
