Cast seated in dhyanasana with hands held in vitarkamudra, wearing a celestial scarf and loose robes open at the chest revealing an elaborate beaded necklace, his eyes downcast below a jewelled crown and a chignon, his hair in knotted tresses and his elongated ear lobes suspending pendent earrings, supported on a double-lotus base, the reverse with an eleven line incised inscription, gilding worn, old damage to base, some red painting at back

Lot Essay

The inscription is dated Chenghua jia chen jiu yue, 'ninth month, jia chen (year), Chenghua (reign period)'
