Lot Essay

The children were painted by Sidley, the pony by Ansdell. For a note on Sidley see lot 291.

This lot is sold together with the figured silk dress shown in the picture, and the pale blue rib silk sash labelled 'Madame Mason'. The dress, which has since been altered, can be viewed on request.
