The case inlaid with elaborate Arabesque marquetry to the skirted plinth with convex moulding and to the rectangular trunk door with lenticle, concave moulding to the flat-top hood with three-quarter columns supporting the pierced wood frieze fret, the 12 in. sq. dial signed Jos. Foster London on the silvered chapter ring, the matted centre with decorated calendar aperture, ringed winding holes and subsidiary seconds ring, elaborate pierced blued hands, crown-and-putti spandrels interrupting the foliate engraved border, the six ringed pillar movement with anchor escapement and outside countwheel strike
