A related drawing of the subject, also on vellum, signed in gold 'LOD C./F.' was in the Ellesmere Collection, Sotheby's, 11 July 1972, lot 9, illustrated. In the ex-Ellesmere drawing the angel is on the right, and the Christ Child is seated on a raised platform.
