While the signature is in exactly the form usually used by the artist, the date of 1244, corresponding to 1828-9 AD, is far too early. The style is certainly that of Abu'l Hasan Ghaffari, and the quality is extremely high, typical of him at the peak of his acreer. The costume and European influenced wallpaper and carpet are also entirely in keeping with a date of 1855, so we can only conclude that this was an unsigned work by Ghaffari to which somebody later added a signature.
