The first drawing is possibly a study for the Queen of Sheba in The visit of the Queen of Sheba to King Solomon, Poynter's masterpiece of 1890 (Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney); the second drawing is a study for The Vision of Endymion, of which there are two versions, dated 1901 and 1902, in the Manchester City Art Gallery. A third version was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1913, and a highly finished composition drawing is in the Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide
