An unusual example, possibly for use by 1st Class Staff (eg RSM or Bandmaster), the skull, top and peak in black patent leather, gilt metal fittings generally of officer's pattern (boss and waist-ornament of slightly modest quality and fixing for plume defective), gilt plate mounted with AR cypher in white metal and other ornaments in gilt-brass, with battle-honours to AFGHANISTAN, (gilt of plate and ornaments slightly rubbed), fine corded gilt chinchain of officer's pattern (lining replaced), brown leather internal headband of ORs' pattern, with a black and white swansfeather plume, complete with good gilt socket
