2nd Lieutenant Edward Arthur Knipe died of wounds on the Somme on 26.9.1916, while serving with the 2nd Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers. The Battalion had been engaged in the capture of Morval the previous day (See Westlake's British Battalions on the Somme).
