D.C.M. London Gazette 3.9.1919 'He has shown consistent keenness and efficiency during three years of active service and has at all times shown complete indifference to personal danger. He sets an excellent example to the men. His courage and devotion to duty throughout have been most conspicuous, especially in the Battles of the Somme in July 1916, of Arras in 1917 and again in 1918, on the Somme from 21 March, and near Dicksbusch from 9-30 April 1918'.
