With brass moulded edge with foliate ornament, the corners and acanthus leaf frieze fitted with a drawer and enclosed by a panel door inlaid with marquetry of cut brass in premiere and contrepartie, between brass inlaid stiles applied with masks and trailing vines on shaped plinth base, applied with foliate and mask ornament, with palmettes and applied masks to the sides, the back branded EHB

Lot Essay

Edward Holmes Baldock (1777 - 1845) supplied furniture to the English aristocracy who favoured the French style. He was a celebrated English dealer in porcelain and furniture and supplied furniture and Sevres porcelain to George IV, the Duke of Northumberland, the Duke of Buccleuch and William Beckford in the early part of the 19th century.
