Two Unusual Small Carved Amber Vessels
Ming dynasty, 17th century
One a small waterdropper of irregular form carved in high relief on one side with a Buddhistic lion and numerous frolicking cubs, the reverse carved with prunus branches, one of the branches forming the handle to one side opposite the small spout issuing from the other side; the other, a small vase carved as a flattened oval section of bamboo flanked by a hollowed, slender, leafy cane on one side and a chilong on the other
