The present picture is mistakenly identified in the literature with a version which was in the Dr. Hans Wetzlar Sale, Sotheby Mak van Waay,
Amsterdam, 9 June 1977, lot 123 (illustrated in colour, as Jan Brueghel I). That picture is very similar to the present work in all
respects but has a different flower at the point where the bouquet meets the left edge of the tub. Both paintings are reduced variants of the large panel in the Alte Pinakothek, Munich (Ertz, op. cit., 1984, pp.427-9, no.266, illustrated), itself based on Jan Brueghel the Elder's panel in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna (Ertz, op. cit., 1979, p.581, no.144, and p.255, fig.328)
