A VIENNA-STYLE GOLD-GROUND CIRCULAR PLAQUE painted by E. Forster with a scene of mythological revellers in and around a pool before classical ruins and entitled Märchen, the scene presided over by Minerva?? seated on a throne with outstretched arms and a youth in attendance, the bacchanalian revellers playing musical instruments, holding wine-vessels and riding sea-beasts, a youth reclining beside the pool wearing a red drape and with a lion at his side, enclosed within a claret and seeded gilt shaped-rectangular cartouche, the ground enriched with medallions and foliate scrolls (slight wear to gilding), artist's signature, blue beehive mark and script, framed, circa 1880
